Antigen Rapid Test (ART) for Visitors and Caregivers

From 21 June 2021, KKH will conduct Antigen Rapid Test (ART) screening for visitors and registered caregivers of inpatients who intend to spend more than 30 minutes in the wards and care areas. Caregivers who remain with patients at the ward for more than a day will have ART screening done daily.

Visitors who do not stay beyond 30 minutes are not required to go for ART.

Patients at the specialist outpatient clinics and their accompanying person do not need to undergo ART, unless they have received a “Health Risk Warning” or “Health Risk Alert” SMS from MOH in the last 14 days.

Please note the following:

Visitors must test negative before they are allowed entry.
The results will only be valid for the day of their visit.
You do not need to pay for the test.
Alternatively, visitors can also show the result of their ART/PCR test taken in the last 24 hours.
Results from your own self-testing kit will not be accepted.

It is important to engage in proactive screening in order to ensure that our patients and staff members remain safe.

What is Antigen Rapid Testing (ART)?
ART is a test to screen for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. It involves using a swab stick inserted into your nostrils to obtain a sample to be tested. Results will be available after 15 to 20 minutes.

How will the test be done? Is it painful?
A swab stick will be inserted into your nostrils to obtain a sample for testing. You may experience a bit of discomfort. The feeling goes away as quickly as the test is done. A result will be available in about 15 to 20 minutes’ time.

What happens if my ART result is positive?
Should your ART result be positive, you will be transferred to an isolation room for further evaluation and treatment.

I already did an ART yesterday before I visited my loved one/patient, do I still need to repeat the test today?
You are not required to repeat the test as long as you have a valid negative ART done in the last 24 hours.

I am already vaccinated. Should I still undergo ART?
ART is a precautionary measure to keep our patients and visitors safe. You are still required to undergo ART if you are staying for more than 30 minutes by the patient’s bedside regardless of your vaccination status.

I have no symptoms. Should I still go for ART?
ART is required for all caregivers and visitors who will be spending more than 30 minutes in the ward as a precautionary measure. This is for the safety of all our patients, visitors and staff.

I do not want to be swabbed. Is this compulsory?
ART is mandatory for caregivers and visitors who will be spending more than 30 minutes in the ward. This is for the safety of all our patients, visitors and staff. You will not be allowed to stay beyond 30 minutes in the ward if you decline ART.
