Profile

A senior consultant paediatrician since 1997, Adj Assoc Prof Chao Sing Ming headed the Nephrology Service from 2002 to 2012.

A former ASEAN scholar, she was also trained as a paediatric nephrologist under the HMDP fellowship at Royal Children’s Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital during 1991-1992. She is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and is the Principal Investigator in numerous research projects and clinical studies. She had also participated actively in International, Regional and National scientific meetings in her capacity as invited speaker, symposia chair and organizing chair. She had numerous publications in peer- reviewed journals and had written book chapters on Paediatric Nephrology. She is a member of the National Advisory Committee on Renal Care and was responsible for the Ministry of Health Clinical Practice Guidelines for Treatment of childhood UTI as well as Voiding Dysfunction in children. She has also been regularly invited to review national medical research projects and journal articles.

Adj Assoc Prof Chao’s subspecialty interests include Childhood UrinaryTract Infection, Voiding Dysfunction, Nephrotic Syndrome, Childhood Lupus Nephritis and other general renal problems in children.
