1. Registration
On arrival, self-register at the registration kiosk and obtain a queue number.
Check in at the Day Surgery Centre and register for a queue number.
After the patient's queue number is called, their details will be verified with staff at the counter. Patients will be given a wristband with their personal details, and a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag to wear.
2. Pre-surgery Preparation
Patients will be called in for pre-surgery assessment before the operation.
In the preparation area, patients will be given a blue bag to store their belongings. The care team will help with any necessary preparations, including reviewing the medical history, shaving, checking, and completing consent forms.
Patients may be given medication to dilate/soften the cervix, which will require some time to take effect.
3. Pre-Surgery Transition
After preparation, patients may be brought to a quiet waiting area near the operating room for final checks Patients cannot be contacted by caregivers once they are brought to the waiting area.
The pre-operation transition areas allows the surgical team to make final checks and ensure everything is ready.
4. Surgery
Once preparations are complete, the patient will be brought into the operating theatre for their procedure.
Caregivers will be contacted once the procedure is complete.
5. Recovery
After surgery, the patient rest in the recovery ward. Caregivers can check patient status on the dashboard at Day Surgery. Patients can be contacted by caregivers once they are stable.
After the surgery, the patient will be closely monitored in the recovery area, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), by the care team. At the same time, caregivers will receive an SMS and/or call for updates.
Once recovery is completed, patient will be transferred to ward for further care management.
6. Observation & Discharge
Once stable, patients will be brought to their designated ward. Further guidance on medications, recovery instructions, and day of discharge will be provided by the doctor.
At the stepdown area (the same place where patients began), patients will rest and enjoy some light refreshments. Once patients feel stable, their doctors will approve their discharge.
Patients will then need to change back into their clothes and wait for their caregiver to arrive. Medication and post-operative care instructions will be provided by the care team to support recovery at home.
